Pepite 2 - Audioscan Milano by Giorgio Sancristoforo

Season One

ARCHIVE

Some call it sound-art, new music, research sounds, acoustic experimentations or liminal sounds, we just call them Pepite, golden nuggets: tips on sound research, precious bits of our programming. Sounds we select and highlight from our freefrom streaming.

This week we are delighted to present:

All to them by Somadrone (2010).
Incepted in 1998, San Francisco based Irish artist Neil O' Connor began Somadrone as a project to document some home recordings from old tape machines and 4-track recorders.

Ur-Gerausch by Massimo Bartolini (2010)
Bartolini ‘s work embraces various media and materials. He participated in many exhibitions at – among the others – the Biennale of Sao Paulo in 2004, the Biennale di Venezia in 1999 and 2009, at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham and at P.S.1 in New York in 2001. Ur-Gerausch is released by Radical Matters.

Snow Days In March by Obsil (2011)
We admit that, we have a weakness for Giulio Aldinucci, aka Obsil, and we always listen to his music here at Radio Papesse. Snow Days in March comes from his third album Vicino: field recordings interwined with classical composition.

Come yeye by Skinshout (2010)
Taken from Caribbean Songs, an album in which Gaia Mattiuzzi – vocal/live electronics – Francesco Cusa – drums and percussions – and Dario De Filippo – percussion – pay  homage to ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax and his research in the Caribbean area.

Furthermore this week we delve into Milano’s soundscape thanks to Giorgio Sancristoforo’s Audioscan MILANO, a project comprising an album and a book both released by Postmedia Books
