Performed through text, video, installation and sound, Colleen Alborough’s work is an invitation into the perilous depths of emotional thought - writer and artist Nathaniel Stern reports - and there would not be a more fitting description of her The Night Journey, a multimedia interactive installation exploring - Alborough herself is speaking - the epic journeys we embark on when the night shuts out our visible reality and gives free rein to our hopes, fantasies, dreams, fears and nightmares.

Fears, hopes, passions: that’s what we talked about in this conversation with South African artist Collen Alborough, on the occasion of .za young art from South Africa, a group show at the Palazzo delle Papesse in Siena.

We also talked about nature and technology, about South Africa between two opposite forces: to leave and to stay.
