Pepite 17 - Sounds and music from Cronica
Season One
Some call it sound-art, new music, research sounds, acoustic experimentations or liminal sounds, we just call them Pepite, golden nuggets: tips on sound research, precious bits of our programming. Each week we select few pepites and highlight them into our free from streaming.
Crónica is a media-label based in Porto, Portugal, Europe. With a strong emphasis towards electronic and experimental music and its intertwining with all forms of time-based audiovisual media, Crónica embraces the digital domain and its explorers. It was founded in 2003 and since then it has been one of our most precious resource to discover new great albums and artists.
We have selected a few tracks from their latest releases:
78 di @c
Miguel Carvalhais and Pedro Tudela collaborate as @c since 2000. Their work is developed from three complementary approaches to sound art and digital music: procedural composition, concrete music and improvisation. In 2003 Carvalhais and Tudela were among the founding partners of the Crónica media label that they run since then.
@c’s music is about complexity, dispersal, multiplicity and active listening. It’s about the complexity of what is in the music, what is not, and what may be filled in by the listener’s brain.
