Philip Miller - Keep on listening

INTERVIEWS

The South African composer Philip Miller, has great familiarity with the world of contemporary visual art; partly because of his frequentations with artist William Kentridge who takes Miller's music into drawn and poetic worlds.
But his trail as a sound artist recently took him underneath the surface of Johannesburg into its gold mines, with their resonances, their history and their human stories.

We met Philip Miller in Milan and together we spoke about his work as a composer, his collaboration with Kentridge and about the project Sebenza eMine, based on the gold mines of Johannesburg and developed together with the italian musician Lucia Ronchetti.

The interview is accompanied by Sebenza eMine - Averno First and Black Box 1 by Philip Miller.
