Six Pillars to Persia

Six Pillars to Persia is a weekly radio show on Middle Eastern, mainly Iranian art and culture produced by artist, musician and researcher Fari Bradley.

The starting point for Six Pillars was a 6 episode radio program in 2005 called: Six Pillars to Persia: named after the writings of travelling thinker and activist Al Afghani, سید جمال‌‌الدین افغاني (late C19th). Afghani said “the castle of human happiness stands on six pillars of positive thought”. The show opens to positive thought, and treat each episode as a pillar under the bridge to contemporary Iran and its Persian heritage.

Six Pillars is itself a media and event production not-for-profit in London, founded on the weekly broadcast since in 2005. We broadcast Fridays 7.30pm, Wednesdays 1.30pm GMT Listen on 104.4FM in London and online at Resonance104.4fm

Six Pillars to Persia is part of Süden Radio with two shows:
Postcards from Iran (originally aired on on May 31st, 2013) and a brand new show from its third series, starting September 2013.

Postcards from IranAugust 31st @ 14.00
In this radio programme we hear from people living in Iran about their current thoughts, not restricted to any topic, as audio postcards to the UK collated by musician Moslem Rasouli. Along with his own music Rasouli sent over all these files recently from Iran for the show. Moslem’s parents are originally from Gilan which is a beautiful and verdant area of Iran producing some of the most gorgeous folk music you ever heard. This background is reflected in Rasouli’s electronic production which is as unique as it is organic, drawing on Iran’s rich tradition and musical lineage of instruments and musical system. We also hear from Jazz saxophonist SoSoLa and a Six Pillars supported artist electronic producer and open source developer Hassan K.
