Running Dog (2012) was recorded, edited and mastered in Napoli between July and October 2012 using a Revox tape recorder, no-input feedback manipulation on tape, radio, field recordings and samples. “For several reasons – says SEC_ – I like to imagine the South as a running dog, chasing or escaping someone, following tracks and getting lost eventually, tracing new tracks and new directions.
Always with rush, with anxiety, sometimes with hope… in the South the time itself is a running dog, it never flows as a river, but it always push you from behind, in a breathless race, just to exorcise a bit more the phantom of death.
BIO || SEC_ is the moniker of Mimmo Napolitano, electronic musician and composer from Naples, Italy. With his tape recorder Revox, that he uses in a very physical and unconventional way, SEC_ has brought new nourishment to the Italian experimental panorama, pushing the musique concrete and the acousmatic sound outside the academic boundries, mixing them with more spontaneous musical practices (power electronics, no-input feedback, electroacoustic improvisation…). He plays in solo or in collaboration with Aspec(t), Jerome Noetinger, Andy Guhl, Dave Phillips, Valerio Tricoli, Olivier Di Placido, Ken Vandermark, Dario Sanfilippo.
