Light Gets In

La Cosa Preziosa for Süden Radio 2017

SONORA

This soundwork has been selected via the Süden Radio #2 - Call for soundworks.

Light Gets In is an electroacoustic track based entirely out of field recordings recorded at dawn, in the Pollino National Park (Basilicata, Italy). A hopeful track for dark days. The maligned south, all too often dismissed as backward, broke and corrupt, in its land and soundscapes still embodying a splendid isolation that provides both respite and profound reflection.

La Cosa Preziosa (Susanna Caprara) is a sound artist and field recordist from the south of Italy based in Ireland. Her work is focused on the creation of short-form audio works composed exclusively out of her own original field recordings.  These can take the form of electroacoustic sound art, abstract and narrated fiction, experimental tracks and micro docs.  Recent projects include Onironautica (RTÉ Lyric FM broadcast for EBU Ars Acustica's Art's Birthday 2017) and Numphé, a piece commissioned for the exhibition Landscape/ Soundscape at Penn State University (USA).
